| Review: | Dentist said goodbye The wife and I have had the same dentist for years, he informed us that he would no longer accept Delta Dental in 2012; We were never really happy when our employer went to the Detal Dental plan as we ended up paying more and getting much less coverage. | Review: | Seniors beware of the Delta Dental Plan Dear seniors, You must be extra careful in signing up for Delta Dental AARP plan as neither Delta, the AARP, or you dentist will advise you of the problems. You may expect to be covered 100% for diagnostic and preventive care (including exams, X-rays, and cleaning) in plan “A” as advertised. Delta, in reality, pays 52.6% if your dentist is not in the AARP plan. I was amazed at this realization. Prior to signing up with Delta through the AARP I thought I did the due diligence by speaking with my dentist and a Delta customer service representative to insure that I understood the terms and conditions. I even printed what was available and showed it to my dentist. I was assured by both Delta and my dentist of the purported plan payments for the diagnostic and preventive care. It was only after receiving the first invoice that I learned in fact that there were two (2) Delta plans, one for corporations and one for the AARP. The plan for the AARP provides considerably lesser benefits and coverage. I reviewed all the documentation and never saw any mention of this distinction. I was told by Delta that it was up to my dentist to inform me of this fact. I believe my dentist replied honestly to my questions. It was just that I didn’t know the right questions to ask at that time. Thus I learned that the AARP policy with Delta is really not the best for seniors unless you plan to change dentists to a Delta P. P. O., one who agrees to accept a lower reimbursement. | Review: | What excuse will they have next time? Another denied claim, this time it's the "birthday clause"????. We carry two dental insurances to help save money with major dental procedures, Delta has effectively made that impossible.Because my wife's birthday is three months before mine they say she is the primary insurer for our daughter??? They also have a clause that says if the primary pays more than 50% they don't pay??? I am now going to cancel this make believe insurance and use the premium to cover what met-life doesn't pay and still come out ahead. This is my second review of this company? See: Why bother paying premiums? Comments [ 2 ] |

| Review: | Do Not Use Delta Dental After months of convincing my employer that it would be in the best interest of the company to provide dental insurance as part of the overall compensation package for our small, but growing company, he finally agreed. I had a claim for some severe cavities that needed a lot of work. Delta Dental only covered $82.20 of the $541.00 worth of work. That's less than the premiums I have paid. It would have been better for me to put the money in a health savings plan and use it as I needed it. When I called customer "service" I was rudely spoken to by Robert who provided absolutely no service. I will be looking for another carrier ASAP! Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Customer service delays Seems I'm not the only one where dental info was sent to Delta and they claim it was never received. It took me 3 times with the dentists' help but they finally received it. Now I've been waiting for the benfit explanation as to why they won't pay. Again customer service failed. I called the headquarters in Okemos MI to get results. Haven't heard back from them yet either. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | THEY NEVER COVER ANYTHING Delta Dental used to be great... now they never cover my treatment or they 'downgrade' everything and I end up paying more that estimated. They answer my questions cryptically when I question my coverage and they always tell me they never get my claims even though I'm standing next to the secretary at my dental office when she faxes the pre-determination to them. They are the worst! Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | They refuse to pay for anything, except cleanings. got cracked teeth? too bad, Delta calls that a cosmetic issue. Got some fillings coming out? Too bad, thats cosmetic too. Maybe you have gum disease, and teeth that are loose and hurting? guess what? Delta Dental of Arkansas will tell you that those are cosmetic issues too. Delta Dental is just like not having any dental insurance, except it costs you more money. Comments [ 1 ] |

| Review: | Average Payment of 35% on Dental Bills This insurance company has an unreasonably low payment schedule. The result is an average payment of about 35%. As another reviewer noted. Why have insurance? Also, I cancelled because of low payment. However, the email address given me to send in the cancelation was incorrect. They had my phone call on record but would not accept the error was in anyway theirs. As a result, I was charged an additional month. Comments [ 1 ] |

| Review: | Why bother with premiums Why should I pay my premium when all they do is deny deny deny. Not once have they simply paid a claim without a fight. Now I'm stuck with a 972$ bill because of a hidden "clause", it's the one that says they SUCK and don't pay their debt's. Go with Metlife they always pay without crying about it. Comments [ 1 ] |

| Review: | Worst insurance ever! Worst insurance experience in my entire life! Customer service is useless. Lousy benefits. They will use any excuse to deny a claim. I ask the office staff of any provider I'm using to call Delta at least twice to verify that the planned procedures will be covered (in addition to calling myself). Customer service reps have given info that contradicts the info in my policy handbook and will even contradict each other. They will give providers incorrect information about the amount of benefits you have left even though they have all the information necessary to give the correct answer. If you have this insurance, be very vigilant and keep good records. Do not trust them to do the right thing. My son had a lot of dental work done last year and it was a nightmare to deal with. The only good thing I can think to say is they will cover your dependent through age 23 if they are still in school. Comments [ 1 ] |

| Review: | Root Canal Claim Refused On my contract it says they pay for 80% of novicane for pain relief, 50% root canals and 80% xrays. ON September 7, 2010 I had a badly needed root canal procedure done at a network provider dentist. Mid October I got the explanation of benefits and all my claims were denied! There statement not a benefit of my contract. I called them verbally 1st week of NOvember, I then sent them a letter of appeal on NOvember 5th. On NOvember 15, 2010 I sent them a certified letter of appeal. I called a representative who told me that it did not go in the back to the appeals section until November 23rd. Now here it is December 30, 2010 and the insurance company still has not looked at my appeal letter! Comments [ 1 ] |

| Review: | Will avoid paying claims at any cost I have spent 4 hours on hold throughout the day today trying to determine the problem with a claim that was filed 3 months ago. I had a veneer replaced which cost me $1200 and each representative gives me a different excuse as to why the claim has not been processed. Each time the claim is refiled, the next representative gives me a different excuse as to why is wasn't accepted. They need another code, certain information is missing, blah blah... I HATE this dental company and I hate that my employer does not offer any other type of insurance. Comments [ 3 ] |

| Review: | Useless and insant operator I just called to find out what my coverage is, and the operator was extremely rude. If you ever have the chance to choose, do not have delta dental because you will be extremely mad with their"customer service!" The operator said she could find any information and i told her it's impossible because Kaiser told me im under delta, and she said I should contact them. When I asked her"Contact whom?" She just said" Ok? Thank you for calling delta Dental Insurance" and hanged up on me!! I urge the supervisor to fire this operator because she is making you lose your customers while you're paying her salary! If she does not want her job, she can just quit! Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Delta Care USA - DMO Dental Plan Stay away from this plan!!! Not a lot of dental offices accept this plan because they don't pay anything to the dental offices. Mostly large clinics accept this & see patients in quantity, rushing between patients & patients have to wait a long time to be seen. Tney cannot afford to provide quality dental work because this insurance is not good. Invest in a PPO plan...it's worth it if you want to receive quality dental work by a good dentist. | Review: | Stay Away!! This is the most worthless insurance I have ever had. They continually deny our claims, blaming erroneous procedure codes submitted. So I go back to the dentist and have them resubmit. Multiple times. Guess what? I get the same results. The dentist office told me they had so many problems with them they will be out of network soon. Oh, and try calling their customer service if you want to see what apathy and arrogance are all about, they are not helpful at all and have the attitude that they could care less and that our dentist does not know how to file a claim properly. Maybe they would mess up but not 5 different times! Unfortunately my family is stuck with they as they are the provider of our employer. I guess I will just keep calling..... Comments [ 3 ] |
