Review: Dentist said goodbye
The wife and I have had the same dentist for years, he informed us that he would no longer accept Delta Dental in 2012; We were never really happy when our employer went to the Detal Dental plan as we ended up paying more and getting much less coverage.

Review: Lied about covering implants
Called for pre-approval and got it. Received the Explanation of Benefits today which explains it is fully denied. Why? Oh because no benefits can be allowed for individual implants or implant related procedures when the arch can be restored with a standard prosthesis. Liars! Do not believe them - crooks!

Review: Good coverage but good luck finding a (good) denti
Humana has been very good in terms of the coverage offered, but good luck finding a good dentist who takes Humana! I have spent hours and hours researching dentists; I went through a list of about 30 dentists who had been recommended to me by friends and co-workers. None accept Humana. I researched dr ratings for those in the plan and the findings were less than inspiring. When I finally did settle on one his practiced was so rushed (perhaps to make up for the low payments from Humana) that he did work on several occassions that had to be redone. I have left him and humana.

Review: Insurance Fraud
They state there is $2000 worth of orthodontic coverage, but only allowed $600. It should have been over $1000, but they kept saying they did not have all the forms or EOB. They are on the edge of insurance fraud and being reported by this paying member. We have called over 6 times in the last 2 months to resolve this issue and the representatives seem very confused.

Review: Useless insurance
I have a very bad experience with Aetna DMO - they are unbearable. The dental offices are so-so. They treat us as they do us a favor when we schedule cleaning, give us appointments in 3-4 months for cleaning, turn us away for being few minutes late.
I have neglected my dental care due to this unbearable insurance. Will get rid of it as soon as possible.

Review: retired U.S. government worker
Why the U.S. government allows this company to sell insurance to government workers is beyond me. They totally misrepresent the program. They told me that I should read the fine print that says they have limitations and exceptions to what they will pay and it is complex and difficult to determine what they will pay but it is determined by their board of directors. DO NOT GET THIS INSURANCE!!!!

Review: Extremely limited network of dentists
The lists of dentists is extremely limited and restricted to 2 store front clinics 25-40 miles away. These clinics only treat low income and welfare clients, both dental and medical, in the same building.

Review: no coverage
I need to have my wisdom teeth pulled out and i was quoted a price of 170 dollars which was ok. Then i call today to confirm my appointment and to see if they were going to put me under for the procedure only to find out that they need to do a surgical extraction now instead of the norm and that my insurance will not cover it now. So instead of 170 they want a little over 1,000. So much for having dental insurance.

Review: Great alternative dental insurance
Recently bought out by United Health. Hope nothing changes. Good choice of provider. Fee service provided good. Premiums reasonable. HAD this coverage since 2007. Found no reason to change.

Review: Seniors beware of the Delta Dental Plan
Dear seniors,
You must be extra careful in signing up for Delta Dental AARP plan as neither Delta, the AARP, or you dentist will advise you of the problems. You may expect to be covered 100% for diagnostic and preventive care (including exams, X-rays, and cleaning) in plan “A” as advertised. Delta, in reality, pays 52.6% if your dentist is not in the AARP plan. I was amazed at this realization. Prior to signing up with Delta through the AARP I thought I did the due diligence by speaking with my dentist and a Delta customer service representative to insure that I understood the terms and conditions. I even printed what was available and showed it to my dentist. I was assured by both Delta and my dentist of the purported plan payments for the diagnostic and preventive care. It was only after receiving the first invoice that I learned in fact that there were two (2) Delta plans, one for corporations and one for the AARP. The plan for the AARP provides considerably lesser benefits and coverage. I reviewed all the documentation and never saw any mention of this distinction. I was told by Delta that it was up to my dentist to inform me of this fact. I believe my dentist replied honestly to my questions. It was just that I didn’t know the right questions to ask at that time. Thus I learned that the AARP policy with Delta is really not the best for seniors unless you plan to change dentists to a Delta P. P. O., one who agrees to accept a lower reimbursement.
